Objectives
of ACFSL
a) To encourage
and promote life long learning and the development of skills, including
ICT skills, among the African and Caribbean Community so that they
are able to access suitable job opportunities and improve their
lives
b) To develop
leadership skills among members to enable them to effectively participate
in the delivery of the objectives of the organisation
c) To strive for
quality and best practice in service delivery, management and administration
of the organisation
d) To access,
and where feasible, provide support programmes to parents to enable
them to appreciate the need for them to help and support their children
to perform better in schools and colleges
e) To provide
mentoring and support programmes and organise recreational events
for African and Caribbean young people, or help them access such
recreational services provided by other agencies in Bracknell Forest
Borough Council for the community
f) To promote,
organise and deliver events to share the cultural and artistic talents
of African and Caribbean people with the broader community, thereby
promoting a sense of well being and community cohesion
g) To work in
partnership with the Bracknell Forest Borough Council, other minority
organisations and any local voluntary and community sector infrastructure
to access the resources and training to support the skills development
and expertise which will enable the African and Caribbean community
to fulfil the objectives of the organisation
h) To act as a
voice for African and Caribbean communities in Bracknell Forest
Borough Council in matters that impact on their well being and contributions
to the wider community
i) To recruit
membership and raise funds, solely and jointly with other organisations,
in order to finance the delivery of the objectives of the organisation
and ensure its viability and sustainability
